Texas basketball will try and extend its winning streak to four games Saturday at Missouri. More importantly, the Longhorns (15-9, 6-5 SEC) will try and get a leg up on a team that shares a spot with them on the NCAA Tournament bubble.
Missouri (17-7, 7-4) ranks as one of the First Four squads in the latest projections released Saturday morning by ESPN tournament analyst Joe Lunardi, which means the Tigers have little room for error when it comes to securing a selection. In comparison, the Longhorns are listed as one of the last four byes.
Texas will have to play without reserve forward Lassina Traore, who was listed as out in Friday’s latest injury report. Traore also missed the Longhorns’ last game, a 79-68 win over Ole Miss Feb. 7 in Austin. Led by 6-foot-9 Duke transfer Mark Mitchell (17.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.4 points), Missouri also enters the contest on a three-game winning streak, including an 86-85 win Wednesday at Texas A&M.
