Men's figure skating is still all the talk here in Milan, with people still shocked by Ilia Malinin's collapse during the free skate.
There are also talks about the connection to another skater who didn't make the podium, Maxim Naumov.
Naumov's parents died in a midair collision a year ago, and he says he felt their presence on the ice.
"I hope, and I pray, that they are proud. I think back to just all those difficult days," Naumov said. "All of the things that we went through when I was younger."
According to the Associated Press, Maxim's parents, Evgenia Shiskova and Vadim Naumov, were among 67 people killed, including over two dozen members of the figure skating community, when American Airlines Flight 5342 collided with a military helicopter as it approached the Ronald Reagan National Airport and fell into the icy Potomac River on Jan. 29, 2025.

"It just means everything to me because again, we did it as a family, and I felt their presence through both of my performances, truly. They continue to guide me on the ice, and I felt that through and through," Naumov said.
At the end of his program, the venue erupted into a standing ovation, with everyone celebrating what they understood was far more important than Olympic medals.
Naumov says his next stop is a skating club in Boston, where he'll coach and mentor, and take a moment to decide what may be next in competition.
