It's looking more and more likely that Rams assistant head coach and passing game coordinator Aubrey Pleasant will return to Sean McVay's coaching staff in 2026.
Three of the four defensive coordinator positions Pleasant interviewed for have already been filled after the Las Vegas Raiders reportedly promoted their defensive line coach to the role, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Pleasant had interviewed for that role last week after previously speaking with the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Chargers for their then-vacant roles. Both teams went in a different direction.
That means only the Cleveland Browns' defensive coordinator role remains open for Pleasant. It's unclear if he's a contender for that job, but the Browns reportedly plan to interview Texans pass-game coordinator Cory Undlin this week, while Browns linebackers coach Jason Tarver and Falcons pass-game coordinator Mike Rutenberg are also in contention, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
If Pleasant stays, he'd rejoin a staff that is mostly the same as the one that went to the NFC title game in 2025. Passing game coordinator Nathan Scheelhaase and defensive coordinator Chris Shula also returned after not being hired by other teams. The only major coach to leave was offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur, who is now the head coach for the Cardinals.
