Texas A&M legend and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans is predicted to play for an NFC East team during the 2026-2027 season.
According to Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr, the former Aggie could be an elite addition for the Washington Commanders. If Evans were to make the move from Tampa Bay to Washington, it would mark his first campaign not with the Bucs in his professional football career.
Evans was selected with the 7th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay and secured 11 consecutive campaigns with more than 1,000 receiving yards. His impressive streak ended this season, in which he missed significant time with a hamstring injury, concussion, and a broken collarbone.
Orr's prediction for Evans' potential landing spot comes as the Commanders look to build around quarterback Jayden Daniels and seek the franchise's first Super Bowl appearance since 1992.

While Daniels suffered multiple injuries throughout the year that altered his full potential in his second NFL season, adding Evans could help dramatically improve Washington's offense, which ranked 24th in the league with 184.1 passing yards per game this year. Deebo Samuel was the only wide receiver to crack the top 50 in receiving yards for the Commanders in 2025.
Other teams across the NFL have heightened interest in acquiring Evans from the Bucs, but Orr believes the current situation in Washington could be the most beneficial landing spot for both parties.
"Despite interest from the Bills, Washington can commit more with breathing room under the salary cap," Orr said. "The push to get Jayden Daniels to a Super Bowl before his rookie contract tolls is real, and Evans is one of the most quarterback-friendly receivers in the NFL."
Evans is entering his 13th season in the league and is eager to play for another team besides the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are seeking to build a youthful wide receiving corps around Baker Mayfield. At this stage of his career in the NFL, the six-time Pro Bowler wants to hoist the Lombardi Trophy again before he retires.
The Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers were also predicted as potential landing spots for Evans, per Bleacher Report. The Aggies' elite wide receiver will remain a hot commodity during the offseason until he finds his new home.
