Any noise about where the Canadian men’s hockey team is sleeping during the Winter Olympics should be put to rest, general manager Doug Armstrong said on Wednesday.
While the Americans are staying in the Athletes’ Village, Team Canada will set up shop in hotel rooms provided by the NHL and NHLPA.
Armstrong told reporters it’s no big deal, noting players had the same arrangement at both Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014.
“I think this has sort of grown a life of its own. This is no different than the tournaments we had before. We just wanted to give our players that option to stay where they’re most comfortable to prepare for the games,” he said.
The Canadians, of course, won gold each of the previous two times that NHLers competed at the Olympics.
They open their tournament in Milan on Thursday against Czechia, while action gets underway Wednesday.
