BATON ROUGE – The first trip of the season was a successful for LSU baseball.
Now the Tigers return home for a midweek game against McNeese State, looking to stay undefeated on the season. No. 1 LSU (8-0) and the Cowboys (2-5) are set for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch from Alex Box Stadium on Tuesday night.
Through eight games, Jay Johnson's team has outscored its opponents 97 to 34 as LSU averages 12 runs per game, which is the seventh-best mark in college baseball.
Last weekend, McNeese was swept by Kansas on the road as it managed just five runs across the three-game series. It does have a win over Sam Houston and Louisiana Tech through its first seven games. Designated hitter Hayden Stringfellow leads the Cowboys offensively, batting .429 with four RBIs and four runs.
Neither team has announced a starting pitcher for Tuesday's game.
