North Carolina star forward Caleb Wilson sprained his left wrist during North Carolina’s 75–66 loss to Miami on Tuesday. Shelby Swanson of the News and Observer broke the news first.
Wilson went to the locker room during the second half before coming back to the sideline with his hand heavily taped before checking back in with 8:47 remaining. Wilson — UNC’s leading scorer — sat out the final 1:43.
Wilson left the game with about 15 minutes remaining in the second half. He sat at the far end of the bench as head athletic trainer Doug Halverson examined his left hand and wrist before the two headed to the locker room.
“I know it’s fine,” UNC coach Hubert Davis said on the Tar Heel Sports radio network. “But in regards to where it hurts and how much it hurts, I don’t know.”
Wilson finished with 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting and six rebounds against Miami (19-5, 8-3 ACC). His point total against the Hurricanes is the lowest output through this season (19-5, 7-4).
Wilson, who is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, was averaging 20.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game going into UNC’ matchup with Miami. He scored 20 or more points in five straight games, including 23 points in UNC’s last-second win against rival Duke at the Smith Center.
North Carolina will take on Pitt on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
