A enticing name just joined the NBA’s buyout market.
The San Antonio Spurs and Jeremy Sochan have agreed on his release, allowing the fourth-year forward to become a free agent, the team announced on Wednesday.
The former ninth-overall pick and 2023 All-Rookie team member is expected to decide among multiple interested teams, according to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania.
After averaging over 25 minutes and 11 points per game in each of his first three seasons, Sochan had a diminished role with the newly competitive Spurs in 2025-26. The 22-year-old is now averaging only 12.8 minutes and 4.1 points over 28 games played.
While measuring at six-foot-eight, Sochan shows a great deal of positional versatility while with the Spurs, even operating as the team’s starting point guard for most of the 2023-24 season.
Yet with sophomore Stephon Castle and rookie Dylan Harper joining the team the past two drafts, and the Spurs trading for De’Aaron Fox at last season’s deadline, they now have a bevy of stronger ball-handling options ahead of Sochan on the depth chart.
Players waived from their teams prior to March 1 are eligible to play in the NBA playoffs after signing with a new team.
