PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Morton is red hot in boys basketball.
Silas Steffen scored 25 points to lead Morton to a 69-62 overtime win at Rochester on Wednesday. The Potters (22-4) have won 15 straight games dated back to the Pekin Holiday Tournament the week following Christmas.
Morton to a 42-35 lead into the fourth quarter but Rochester rallied for the tie with Khordell Gregory hitting a three-pointer in the final seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime. Morton’s Alex McKie scored 21 points and hit a critical three-pointer in the final minute of overtime.
Elsewhere, Manual beat Washington, 63-41, in another non-conference match-up. In girls basketball, IVC and Illini Bluffs won regular season finales.
