Scotland U20 17 England U20 33
England made it back-to-back victories in the Under-20 Six Nations as they comfortably beat Scotland 33-17 in Edinburgh. Tries from Finn Keylock, Jimmy Staples, Connor Treacey, James Pater and Will Knight secured the bonus-point win for England, who backed up their victory over Wales in round one.
England led 19-17 at the break, with both sides scoring three tries in a thrilling first half. The visitors were able to stretch clear in the second half courtesy of two stunning tries from Pater and Knight. Their dominance in the second half could have resulted in them winning by more, but England kept Scotland scoreless after half-time and go home with five points in the bag and top spot.

Pater’s try capped a man-of-the-match performance from the No 15, who said: “It was an unbelievable game. A game really of two halves. We struggled to get out of our half in the first half and exit clear. We took pride in our roles and responsibilities in the second half.
“Our captain Connor [Treacey] said it is great to win once but consistency is key. We will not get ahead of ourselves and we look forward to Ireland up next at home. That is the next aim. We know they have a very physical pack so we will have to front up at home. We are excited to play at home and what our fans will bring.”
Treacey added: “Credit to Scotland, they were a class outfit and pushed us. We will really grow from that as a team. Our variety in our game was impressive, our commitment to courageous decisions. We can always take the easy option and take three points, but we want to score points. We have not looked too far ahead, we try to stay in the moment.”
Man of the match is...

England go top of the tree for now, with France playing tomorrow night against wales. Scotland leave this game pointless.

England are looking to finish with a flourish, with the win already sealed, and have a penalty just inside the Scottish half as they go in search of a sixth try of the night. Keylock kicks deep into the Scotland 22.
TRY! Knight stunner seals it for England
That is game, set and match and what a way to finish off Scotland. In some ways it is similar to Pater’s try earlier and he starts it inside his own 22 with a lovely offload out of the back of the hand to Knight, who carries England across halfway down their right. He passes outside to Offiah, who is unselfish as he repays the favour by passing back inside to Knight, who has the gas to score in the corner. A stunning score that is converted by Keylock.

Another opportunity wasted as they knock on just five metres from the Scottish line. England’s lead should be more than nine points and should be home and hosed already.
66 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
Williams carries hard towards the Scottish line but is held up. England are looking to kill of this game but thus far have not been able to.
NO TRY! Tonga’uiha effort ruled out
There is adjudged to have been a knock-on by England on the floor just before Tonga’uiha scored but this is a strange one. There are illegal hands in the ruck by Scotland replacement Ronnie, so he is sent to the bin. But the ball went backwards off him, not forward off England, so why is the try chalked off for a knock-on?
Anyway, England take a quick tap...
TRY! Tonga’uiha powers over for England
That feels like it could be game, set and match. Staples breaks from the maul and is brought down just shy of the line but just a few phases later, tighthead prop Tonga’uiha burrows his way over from a few metres out. Keylock gets the extras and England’s lead grows to 16 points.
However, will this stand? The TMO is checking for a possible knock-on...
63 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
In a matter of moments, Scotland go from attacking inside the England half to conceding a penalty on their own 10-metre line for sealing off. Keylock will kick into the Scotland 22.
60 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
That is a waste from England as they concede a free-kick at the lineout. A try for England there probably would have killed off this match.
59 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
England’s kicking game has been strong tonight, clearly they have been watching George Ford in action, perhaps also asking for some tips as well!
England get their rolling maul going into the Scottish 22 and have a penalty advantage. They then win another penalty closer to the Scottish line. England will go to the corner.
57 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
Play is halted as Widdowson is down injured. He receives treatment but is fine to continue.
England have made a change in the back-row as Marsh has come on for Kelly. They have also brought on Tyler Offiah, son of Martin, into the backline.
56 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
That is a missed opportunity from Scotland but it is great work from Lilley. Scotland gain momentum in attack after a clever chip ahead and are in possession inside the England 22. However, Lilley gets over the ball well at the breakdown and wins England a penalty.

The lineout throw from Roberts is overthrown and Keylock is able to clear for England.
50 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
That is such a silly penalty for England to give away, with Staples pinged for obstruction as Scotland put up a kick towards the England 22. Dalziel puts the kick into the England 22.
48 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 26
Pater makes another fantastic break for England, this time from his own 22, and shows his wheels to accelerate down the field. England really should score as they have numbers to Pater’s left as he enters the Scottish half but the pass is not accurate. Keylock does hack forward but Dalziel recovers before clearing for Scotland.
TRY! Pater finishes off stunning England move
That is the bonus point for England, with their full-back Pater starting and finishing a fantastic move. Pater starts it, catching a kick inside his own half before making a break into the Scottish half. He then passes out to his right to find Winters, who sprints down the right touchline into the Scottish 22 before offloading back inside to Pater, who finishes it off. Keylock converts and England now lead by nine.

Kelly returns from his period in the bin and England are restored to 15 men.
42 mins: Scotland U20 17 England U20 19
That will create some debate. Friday’s chip kick ahead bounces towards the Scottish line and the bounce initially does for Scottish full-back Widdowson. There is then a race between a number of England players and Widdowson to see who will get their hand on the loose ball first. England think they have scored but we go to a TMO review. It is very close between Widdowson and Pearson as to whose hand got to the ball first. The officials deem it to be just Widdowson first so it is a goal-line drop-out instead of a try. That was a very close call and honestly could have gone either way.
Second half
We are back under way at The Hive, with England taking a two point lead into the second half. England are still down to 14, with Kelly about to return from his period in the bin.

TRY! Stewart powers over
Scotland end the half with a bang as their pressure deep inside the England 22 pays off. Loosehead prop Stewart powers his way over and Scotland have a conversion to draw level at the break. MacArthur’s conversion though slips by the right post.
TRY! Treacey restores England’s lead
The visitors are back in front and it is their captain Treacey who is the man to score. England are inches from the line and number eight Treacey has enough power to get over the line from close range. Keylock adds the conversion and England lead by seven.

TRY! McHaffie dots down for Scotland
Not only have Scotland got their second try of the game but England are now down to 14 men as Kelly is sent to the bin. They swing it into the hands of the backs and McHaffie manages to score. The conversion is added and we are all square.

Scotland’s pack dominates at scrum time just outside the England 22 and England captain Treacey is warned about his side’s discipline. The next penalty in their own half conceded by England will result in a yellow card. Scotland put it into the corner.
29 mins: Scotland U20 5 England U20 12
The momentum is starting to swing Scotland’s way as, moments after conceding a try, England are then penalised for a shoulder off the ball from Williams.
TRY! MacArthur gets Scotland on the board
Scotland’s scrum half dots down and then a big melee ensues. They are just short of the England line but MacArthur snipes from the base of the ruck and manages to find the line. MacArthur cannot convert his own try.

Scotland are in possession deep inside the England 22 and win themselves a penalty just five metres out from the England line. Dalziel puts it into the corner.
TRY! Staples capitalises on Scottish error
A huge mistake from one hooker benefits the over. Roberts’ throw from deep inside his own 22 is poor, allowing Staples to take it at the back and the England hooker powers through a few tackles to score on the stretch. Keylock adds the conversion and England lead by 12. That was a gift for England.

17 mins: Scotland U20 0 England U20 5
Scotland’s first real opportunity inside the England 22 is wasted as the lineout throw from just over five metres out from the England line is not straight. A real let-off for England.
16 mins: Scotland U20 0 England U20 5
Scotland win themselves a penalty just outside the England 22 after a deliberate slap down by the visitors. Scotland turn down a shot at three and instead go to the corner.
12 mins: Scotland U20 0 England U20 5
England are dangerous again from a scrum just inside the Scotland half, making a great break down the blindside and Keylock carries into the Scotland 22. England have great momentum and are getting deeper into the Scotland 22. However, within five metres of the Scotland line, the hosts are able to hold up the visitors and win a scrum. England were knocking on the door for their second try of the game.
TRY! Keylock finishes off after sublime play from Friday
England strike first and it is a superb score. From a scrum on halfway, Harlequins scrum-half Friday makes a superb break and sprints ahead towards the Scotland 22. He then chips ahead and it is a straight foot race between the two 10s. Keylock gets the better of Dalziel and dots down. Keylock’s conversion hits both posts but does not go through.

Already quite a number of handling errors from both sides. It is a dry evening in Edinburgh tonight and an artifical surface but it is freezing cold, although that should not really affect the handling too much.
3 mins: Scotland U20 0 England U20 0
Dalziel intercepts on halfway and races into the England half but the whistle has gone. Scotland’s captain Wolfenden was offside just before the interception so the penalty goes England’s way. That is really poor though from Keylock as he misses touch, allowing Scotland to clear.
2 mins: Scotland U20 0 England U20 0
We have the first scrum of the night and the penalty goes the way of the visitors. Scotland’s pack thought they got the shove but the angle of scrummaging was illegal according to the referee.
1 min: Scotland U20 0 England U20 0
Not the ideal start for England as they drop the opening kick-off so Scotland have possession just outside the England 22. However it is a good defensive set from the visitors as they force a knock-on from the hosts on the floor.

Can England make it two from two?
Matchday two of the 2026 U20 Six Nations kicks off in Edinburgh as Scotland take on England. When these sides met a year ago, England won in emphatic fashion, thrashing Scotland 57-13 in Newcastle. These teams also met during the U20 World Rugby Championship last summer and England were once more dominant winners, claiming a 56-19 victory.
England edged past Wales on matchday one, fighting back from a 16-0 deficit at half-time to come through to win 19-16, courtesy of tries from Sonny Tonga’uiha, Jimmy Staples and Victor Worsnip, despite a red card for Saracens’ Luke Davidson on the hour mark. Speaking ahead of tonight’s game, England assistant coach Kevin Sorrell praised the players for not chasing the game emotionally.
“We found our spark in the second half against Wales and you could feel the belief shift across the squad after putting ourselves in a challenging position,” Sorrell said.
“The players did not chase the game emotionally, they recognised what was needed to build momentum and convert into points. It was a big step in their development as a group. Going up to Scotland is always a test that demands a committed, concentrated performance. If we build on our fundamentals that allowed us to work our way back into the game, we will give ourselves an opportunity to keep pushing our high standards forward.”
Scotland claimed a comfortable 36-10 victory away in Italy on matchday one. They are looking to start with back-to-back wins for the first time since the U20 Six Nations began. Their head coach Fergus Pringle was really pleased with the way his side started their campaign.
“A lot of hard work went into that game [the win over Italy], a good two months’ worth of prep,” Pringle said. “We went in with a clear plan, and we felt the boys executed it really well. We wanted to try and get a win away from home, we had not done that in my time here and we know Italy is a tough place to go and get a win so that really was very pleasing. We need to move on pretty quick and focus on the week ahead because we know it is going to be a massive challenge against England.
“It is a big game, it is England week. But to be honest our main focus is on ourselves, how we prepare and get everything ready to be sure to control the things that we can. We will have to be at our very best to challenge England in any way.”
Kick-off from Hive Stadium in Edinburgh as 7.15pm.
