Team Canada will be down a defenceman again as it looks to go 3-0 in the preliminary round.
Blue-liner Josh Morrissey will not suit up for Canada’s matchup against France on Sunday (10:40 a.m. ET / 7:40 a.m. PT on CBC Gem, Sportsnet+), per Sportsnet’s Luke Fox.
Fox added, however, that Morrissey has not been ruled out for the tournament.
Morrissey missed Friday’s 5-1 win over Switzerland after suffering an injury during Thursday’s victory against Czechia.
The 30-year-old exited Canada’s first match early in the second period. Head coach Jon Cooper said post-game that the defenceman tried to return, but was unable to.
With Morrissey unavailable, Travis Sanheim drew into the lineup and was plus-2 vs. the Swiss.
For the season with the Winnipeg Jets, Morrissey has appeared in all 56 games, notching 10 goals and 32 assists.
Meanwhile, Canada’s other absent player on Friday, Brad Marchand, was out as a healthy scratch in order to get Seth Jarvis in the lineup.
Jarvis logged two shots on net against the Swiss, while Marchand registered a primary assist vs. Czechia.
