4A Playoffs

Mountain View 76, Cottonwood 72

No. 13 Mountain View defeated No. 4 Cottonwood 76-72 in the second round of the Class 4A state tournament UHSAA bracket at Cottonwood. A strong fourth quarter, where Mountain View outscored Cottonwood 27-27, helped secure the win. Jake Goodmann led Mountain View with 17 points, while Micah Fairbanks and Tanner Vlaardingerbroek each added 15 and 16 points respectively, each hitting four 3-pointers. For Cottonwood, Malei Atem led all scorers with 33 points and four 3-pointers.

Dixie 68, Ridgeline 58

In the Class 4A state tournament second round, No. 5 Dixie triumphed over No. 12 Ridgeline 68-58. Dixie was led by Collin Simmons, who scored 31 points, while Asher Spence contributed 14 points. Ridgeline’s Cam Earl scored 24 points and made three 3-pointers. Dixie enjoyed a slight edge by outscoring Ridgeline 14-10 in the first quarter and maintained its lead throughout the game.

Provo 67, Judge Memorial 55

Provo defeated No. 17 Judge Memorial 67-55 in the second round of the Class 4A state tournament. Callen Tollestrup led Provo with 26 points and connected on three 3-pointers, while Lucas Castagnetto added 18 points and six 3-pointers. Despite Massear Mbodj’s 24 points and Aymen Ismail’s 19 points and five 3-pointers for Judge Memorial, Provo maintained control after leading by four at the end of the first quarter and steadily extending their lead. Provo advances to face No. 8 Sky View in the quarterfinals at Weber State.

Pine View 73, Green Canyon 65

Pine View defeated Green Canyon 73-65 in the Class 4A state tournament’s second round. Nate Tueller led the Panthers with 28 points, including five 3-pointers, while Caleb Schmitt added 20 points and two 3-pointers. Despite a strong third and fourth quarter surge by the Wolves, Tueller’s performance was pivotal in maintaining Pine View’s lead. Jelani Odjegba also contributed 12 points for the Panthers.

Crimson Cliffs 59, Murray 57

No. 3 Crimson Cliffs narrowly defeated No. 14 Murray 59-57 in the second round of the Class 4A state tournament. The Mustangs secured the win by outscoring the Spartans 16-8 in the fourth quarter. Travis Murdock led Crimson Cliffs with 18 points, while Murray’s Roman Israyelyan scored a game-high 25 points, including five 3-pointers. The victory advances Crimson Cliffs to the quarterfinals against No. 6 Hurricane at Weber State.

Hurricane 63, East 58

Hurricane edged out East 63-58 in the second round of the Class 4A state tournament. Hurricane’s Brigham Kemp was instrumental, scoring 23 points and securing nine rebounds to help the team maintain its lead throughout the game. East’s Beckham Christensen led his team with 15 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Hurricane’s balanced attack. Lincoln Stout and Quinn Gubler added 14 and nine points respectively for Hurricane, securing their spot in the quarterfinals.

Timpanogos 56, Juan Diego 43

Timpanogos defeated Juan Diego 56-43 in the 4A Playoffs. Jaxen McCuistion led the Timberwolves with 19 points and two 3-pointers, while Miles Riley added 10 points, also hitting two 3-pointers. Deng Deng was the leading scorer for the Soaring Eagle, tallying 20 points. Timpanogos built a solid lead by outscoring Juan Diego 18-12 in the second quarter and maintained control throughout the game.

Sky View 66, Snow Canyon 33

Sky View defeated Snow Canyon 66-33 in the second round of the Class 4A state tournament at a home court advantage. Leading the charge for Sky View, MaCade Rolle scored 16 points, while Easton Mills contributed 15. Snow Canyon’s top scorer, Reggie MacKay, recorded 15 points, but the team was outscored 17-2 in the second quarter, sealing their fate. The win advances Sky View to face No. 1 Provo in the quarterfinals at Weber State.

3A Playoffs

Emery 60, Logan 55

No. 4 Emery defeated No. 13 Logan 60-55 in the second round of the Class 3A state tournament. Brek Griffin was key for the Spartans, scoring 26 points and hitting two 3-pointers. Despite a strong 17-point effort from Logan in the final quarter, which included 16 points and four 3-pointers from Ethan Woolley, they couldn’t close the gap. Emery advances to face No. 12 Grantsville in the quarterfinals on February 19 at SUU.

Canyon View 71, Union 62

Canyon View overcame Union 71-62 in the Class 3A state tournament’s second round. Jeter Sanders led Canyon View with 25 points, including two 3-pointers, while teammate Zach Maine added 13 points with three 3-pointers. Union’s Compton Anderson was the game’s top scorer, recording 30 points and five 3-pointers. The Falcons held a 38-25 halftime lead after outscoring Union 21-14 in the second quarter, and maintained their advantage throughout the game to advance to the quarterfinals against No. 1 Morgan.

American Heritage 79, North Sanpete 43

No. 3 American Heritage cruised past No. 14 North Sanpete 79-43 in the second round of the Class 3A state tournament. American Heritage built a strong lead with a 23-9 first quarter and maintained control throughout. James Matsen led the Patriots with 24 points, while Kade Andersen added 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Bryce Swapp was North Sanpete’s top scorer with 19 points, including three 3-pointers.

Delta 57, Carbon 53

In a Class 3A state tournament game, No. 6 Delta edged past No. 11 Carbon 57-53, despite being outscored 36-24 in the second half. Delta’s Kobe Driggs led the charge with 16 points, including two 3-pointers. Carbon’s Cash Withers also shone with 13 points and four 3-pointers. Delta will advance to the quarterfinals at SUU, facing No. 3 American Heritage.

Ogden 61, Manti 45

Ogden defeated Manti 61-45 in the Class 3A state tournament’s UHSAA second round. Tayson Porter led the Tigers with 24 points, including three 3-pointers, while Jackson Maw added 16 points for the team. Manti’s Stone Mortensen scored 16 points and contributed two 3-pointers, but the Templars couldn’t overcome a strong third quarter by Ogden, which outscored them 19-7 to pull away. With the win, Ogden advances to face Richfield in the quarterfinals at Southern Utah University.

Richfield 75, Providence Hall 28

Richfield defeated Providence Hall 75-28 in the second round of the Class 3A state tournament. Richfield’s Jorgen Southwick led all scorers with 25 points, bolstered by a strong third quarter where Richfield outscored Providence Hall 22-4. Ryker Jones was the top scorer for Providence Hall with 10 points. With this win, Richfield advances to the quarterfinals to face No. 7 Ogden at Southern Utah University.

Grantsville 60, Juab 54

No. 12 Grantsville upset No. 5 Juab 60-54 in the second round of the Class 3A state tournament. Grantsville was propelled by Brigham Mouritsen’s 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and Crew Allred’s 11 points. Juab’s Kai Cuff led all scorers with 19 points, but the Wasps fell short despite outscoring the Cowboys in the third quarter, 22-14. Grantsville advances to face No. 4 Emery in the quarterfinals at SUU on Feb. 19.

Morgan 89, Ben Lomond 46

Top-seeded Morgan defeated No. 16 Ben Lomond 89-46 in the Class 3A state tournament’s second round. Morgan’s Bracken Saunders led all scorers with 26 points, while Mason Williams added 20. Brighton Whimpey contributed with three 3-pointers, showcasing Morgan’s depth. For Ben Lomond, Taggart Bush scored 18 points, including two 3-pointers. Morgan advanced to face No. 8 Canyon View in the quarterfinals at SUU.

2A Playoffs

Rowland Hall 74, Millard 58

Rowland Hall defeated Millard 74-58 in the second round of the Class 2A state tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals. Jevin Miller led the Winged Lions with 24 points, making five 3-pointers, while Jrue Miller contributed 23 points and added three 3-pointers. For Millard, Dirk Memmott and B Blad both scored 11 points, with Blad hitting three 3-pointers. Rowland Hall built momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Millard 19-16.

San Juan 77, APA West Valley 66

San Juan defeated APA West Valley 77-66 in the 2A Playoffs. Jagger Nieves led San Juan with 23 points, including three 3-pointers, while Tripp Palmer added 20 points. APA West Valley’s Aamir Mohamed scored 28 points and made five 3-pointers, but the Eagles couldn’t overcome an early 10-point first-quarter deficit. San Juan maintained a consistent lead throughout the game to secure the victory.

Kanab 71, Waterford 45

In the second round of the Class 2A state tournament, No. 1 Kanab defeated No. 16 Waterford 71-45. Kanab surged ahead in the first quarter and solidified its lead with a strong 24-point performance in the fourth quarter. Kanab’s offense was led by a balanced attack, while Waterford’s Camden Judd recorded 13 points, including a 3-pointer. Despite the loss, Waterford’s Solomon Foster added nine points and a 3-pointer to the scoreboard.

South Sevier 48, Enterprise 34

South Sevier defeated Enterprise 48-34 in the Class 2A state tournament second round. Raidon Barney led South Sevier with 19 points, while Krew Redd and Britton Johnson each contributed with two 3-pointers. Enterprise’s Carter Hardman scored 15 points in the losing effort. South Sevier pulled away in the second half, outscoring Enterprise 22-12 to secure the win.

South Summit 70, Draper APA 49

South Summit defeated Draper APA 70-49 in the second round of the Class 2A state tournament at a neutral site. The Wildcats pulled away decisively in the third quarter, outscoring Draper APA 26-13. Maddox Welch led South Summit with 23 points, including three 3-pointers, while Blake Osguthorpe contributed 22 points with four 3-pointers. Jones Strong was the top scorer for Draper APA with 14 points, including two 3-pointers.

American Leadership 48, Beaver 45

American Leadership Academy edged out Beaver 48-45 to advance in the Class 2A state tournament. Jakobe Ross led the Eagles with 15 points, while Cooper Crockett contributed 10 with a crucial 3-pointer. Beaver’s Schevion Ormsby scored 14 points, including two 3-pointers, to keep the Beavers in contention. Despite leading by three in the first quarter, Beaver was unable to overcome ALA’s consistent performance in the ensuing quarters.

Gunnison Valley 59, Parowan 54

Gunnison Valley defeated Parowan 59-54 in the second round of the Class 2A state tournament. The Bulldogs used a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring Parowan 22-14 to secure the win. Braxton Pickett led Gunnison Valley with 18 points, while Talan Dyreng added 10 points. Tate Stubbs had an impressive performance for Parowan, scoring 22 points, including two 3-pointers.

North Summit 66, Duchesne 48

No. 2 North Summit advanced to the quarterfinals of the Class 2A state tournament with a 66-48 victory over No. 15 Duchesne. Tayton Pace led the Braves with 26 points, including two 3-pointers, and added 10 rebounds and four steals. North Summit built a commanding 38-20 halftime lead, setting the tone for the rest of the game. Rhett Clayburn led Duchesne with 10 points, including one 3-pointer.
