A rematch with the same South Walton team that ended their season in the Region 1-3A final in 2025 on their home field.
One year later, the Crusaders were able to do the same. Pensacola Catholic (15-2-3 overall) is Final Four bound for the first time since 2013 after 1-0 win over South Walton (12-5) in the Region 1-3A championship.
Adelyn Carpenter scored the lone goal of the game in the second half. Crusaders head coach John Guidroz credited centerbacks Cate Carlson, Caroline Trajano and goalkeeper Lily Rodriguez, who recorded six saves, from keeping the Seahawks off the scoreboard.
Pensacola Catholic hasn't allowed a goal in all six of its postseason games and has recorded eight straight shutouts. This the Crusaders third win over South Walton this season. They previously beat the Seahawks 2-0 on Nov. 5 and then 2-0 again in the District 1-1A championship on Jan. 27.
The Crusaders will be the No. 4 seed in the state semifinals and will play No. 1 Montverde Academy on Feb. 19 at 12 p.m. CT at Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale. Regional champions were re-seeded 1 through 4 after the regional finals.
Catholic boys fall in Region 1-3A final
The Pensacola Catholic boys soccer team's impressive postseason run came to an end Friday night in Alachua.
The No. 5 seed Crusaders came up short against No. 3 seed Santa Fe, 1-0. The Raiders' (14-4-3) Owen Boone scored in the second half to send the program to its first ever Final Four.
Pensacola Catholic (14-6-1) was playing in a regional final for the first time since 2022. The Crusaders entered this match on an eight match winning streak, which propelled them from just outside the state playoff field to a district title and an Elite 8 appearance.
