Amritsar Soormas Seal First Sher-E-Punjab T20 Franchise League Title

The 2026 season marked a new chapter for the Sher-E-Punjab competition, with the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) revamping the tournament into a six-team, city-based franchise league. While this was the first franchise-based edition of the league, it was the third overall season of the PCA-run competition.

The revamped league brought together some of Punjab’s biggest cricketing names, including Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Arshdeep Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Gurnoor Brar and Ramandeep Singh, alongside a number of emerging players from the state.

The season produced several memorable moments, including the much-anticipated meeting between childhood friends and India teammates Shubman and Abhishek. In that encounter, Abhishek smashed 49 off just 15 balls, including six fours and four sixes, at a strike rate of more than 326. He also dismissed Gill after the batter had struck 67 off 35 balls, adding another layer to an already entertaining contest.

Naman Dhir was another standout, smashing a sensational 173 off 64 balls for Amritsar Soormas against Mohali Kings, an innings featuring 16 fours and 12 sixes. He finished the league stage as the tournament’s leading run-scorer with 626 runs to his name.

Prabhsimran Singh was another major batting highlight, producing a consistently aggressive campaign and finishing the league stage with 575 runs. His power-hitting was evident throughout the tournament, as he also finished with 34 sixes.

The season also saw Ludhiana Lions book their place in the final after a memorable comeback led by captain Salil Arora, who smashed 120 off 56 balls against Jalandhar Warriors.

Amritsar Soormas lifted the title after beating Ludhiana Lions in the final, bringing the new-look competition to a memorable conclusion.

The tournament’s first franchise edition provided Punjab’s players with a new platform to compete alongside established stars, while bringing the state’s cricketing fan base closer to the game.
