Braves Extend Chris Sale Through 2027

The Atlanta Braves have locked up ace Chris Sale with a one-year, $27 million extension that includes a $30 million club option for 2028.

Sale, 36, was set for free agency but will remain in Atlanta for the 2027 season. The deal comes just before the 2026 season begins and ensures the right-hander remains part of the rotation following his 2024 NL Cy Young Award.

Although Sale dealt with injury issues last season, posting a dominant 3.6 fWAR in just 125 innings, the Braves are betting on his continued dominance. The extension keeps the veteran arm anchored in Atlanta after he was acquired from the Red Sox in 2024.
