FIA Software Bug Causes F1 Chaos in Malaysia

The start of the 2026 Formula 1 season in Malaysia descended into chaos after an FIA software bug caused power loss for Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.

Leader Max Verstappen was the first to suffer from a lack of power while driving slowly during the formation laps behind the safety car. Lewis Hamilton subsequently came to a standstill, with several other cars following suit.

Race control was forced to stop the race with a red flag after the technical issue caused a pile-up at the start. tr-sport.click
