Steelers Wait on Aging Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are contradicting their own statements by waiting on Aaron Rodgers to decide about playing in 2026, as other quarterbacks have signed elsewhere.

The Steelers, who said they wouldn't let Rodgers' decision drag on, have watched the free-agent quarterback market pass them by. General Manager Omar Khan specifically stated at the NFL combine that the team wouldn't repeat last year's scenario where Rodgers signed in June. Yet here they are, essentially holding their offseason hostage while Rodgers, who turns 43 this year, makes his decision.

Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins has signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, Malik Willis joined the Dolphins, Geno Smith moved to the Jets, and both Tua Tagovailoa and Kyler Murray signed for veteran minimums. The Steelers have improved other areas of their roster, but their ceiling with Rodgers remains questionable as players in their mid-40s typically experience performance decline.
