Ex-Liverpool Stars Urge More Starts for Rio Ngumoha

Former Liverpool players Jamie Carragher and Daniel Sturridge have urged manager Arne Slot to start 17‑year‑old Rio Ngumoha more often, citing his decisive cameo against Nottingham Forest.

Rio Ngumoha, who has yet to start a Premier League match, came off the bench for the ninth time this season and in 15 minutes turned a 1‑0 deficit into a win for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest. Carragher said Ngumoha did more in that spell than the club’s regular wingers had in the whole game, and Sturridge praised his electric, fearless play.

Arne Slot has managed Ngumoha’s minutes carefully, giving him starts mainly in cup competitions. Slot acknowledged the youngster’s potential and the amount of time he has already played for a 17‑year‑old, but said he will continue to develop him gradually.
