Bayern Set Conditions for Neuer's Contract Extension

Bayern Munich are demanding that Manuel Neuer, who turns 40 this March, continue to perform at a top level before offering a new contract. The club’s sports director Max Eberl said the decision rests on Neuer’s motivation and ability to maintain his performance for another season.

Bayern Munich’s board member for sport Max Eberl told Sport1 that the 40‑year‑old goalkeeper must keep his current high level of play to justify a new deal. Eberl emphasized that the club will only consider an extension if Neuer feels he can sustain top performance next season and remains motivated.

Neuer’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he is currently sidelined with a torn muscle fiber injury. Bayern’s goalkeeping lineup remains stable with Neuer as first choice, Jonas Urbig as backup, and Sven Ulreich and Alexander Nübel as experienced options.
