Buehler Signs Minor League Deal with Padres

Former Dodgers World Series winner Walker Buehler has signed a minor league contract with the San Diego Padres after being released by the Boston Red Sox and finishing the season with Philadelphia.

Buehler, who pitched for the Dodgers from 2017-24, turned down a $20 million offer from Los Angeles after the 2024 season. The right-hander missed the 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery and had a 3.27 ERA in 131 appearances with the Dodgers, making two All-Star teams.

After leaving the Dodgers, Buehler struggled with Boston, posting a 5.45 ERA in 23 outings before being released. He performed better with Philadelphia, recording a 0.66 ERA in three appearances. The Padres, who have lost several pitchers this offseason, see Buehler as a potential fifth starter for their 2026 rotation.
