Major League Baseball Players' Association chief Tony Clark stepped down Tuesday after an internal investigation uncovered an inappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, who has worked at the union since 2023. The union's executive council expressed support for Bruce Meyer, lead negotiator, to replace Clark, but at least three players opposed him during a conference call, preventing a vote.
Players are scheduled to reconvene Wednesday as the union faces leadership uncertainty with collective bargaining agreement negotiations approaching. Clark was cleared of financial misconduct but still faces a federal investigation in the Eastern District of New York.
