Ukraine Racer Gets $200k After Olympic Ban

Vladyslav Heraskevych received $200,000 from Shakhtar Donetsk owner after being barred from Milano Cortina Winter Olympics for wearing a helmet depicting Ukrainian athletes killed in the war.

The 27-year-old skeleton racer was disqualified when the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation ruled that the helmet imagery breached rules on athletes' expression at the Games. Shakhtar Donetsk's donation equals the prize money Ukraine pays to gold medallists, showing support for Heraskevych after his ban.
