Shafali Verma survived an edge off Australian spinner Ashleigh Gardner to get off the mark in the third women's T20I. The opener attempted to drive the ball over Gardner's head but the ball fell safely past Litchfield, allowing Shafali to score her first runs of the match.

India reached 14-0 in the second over with Smriti Mandhana on 5 and Shafali on 3. Gardner bowled a tight over, conceding just four runs as the Indian openers settled into their innings.
