Munetaka Murakami overcame traffic delays to deliver two hits and two RBIs in his Cactus League debut for the Chicago White Sox. The Japanese slugger arrived 20 minutes before the first pitch after getting caught in a highway accident but settled in quickly, driving in runs during an 8-1 victory over the Cubs.
Murakami signed a $34 million contract with the rebuilding White Sox this offseason after hitting 246 home runs in Japan. He started at first base and drove a single with a high exit velocity in his first at-bat.
