Werder Bremen Cancels US Tour Over ICE Shootings

German soccer team Werder Bremen has cancelled a planned May tour of the United States, including matches in Minnesota and Detroit, citing recent civil unrest and the fatal shootings of civilians by ICE agents.

Werder Bremen confirmed the cancellation in a statement, stating that playing in a city where people have been shot does not align with their values. The team also noted uncertainty regarding player entry due to stricter U.S. requirements.

The decision follows the January 2026 deaths of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, who were both shot by federal agents in Minneapolis. The club emphasized that civil injustices played a significant role in their decision to withdraw from the tour.
