Rodgers hails 'special' derby win but quashes Al Qadsiah title talk

Brendan Rodgers praised his Al Qadsiah side after a dominant 4-0 derby victory over Al Ettifaq, though the manager downplayed talk of a title challenge.

Rodgers watched his team take control early with goals from Nahitan Nandez and Christopher Bonsu Baah within seven minutes, before sealing the result with late strikes from Julian Quinones and Julian Weigl. The victory keeps Al Qadsiah unbeaten in 14 league matches since Rodgers' appointment, with the East Coast club now sitting fourth in the table, three points behind the leaders.

'I thought we were so good in the game,' Rodgers said. 'Our intensity, especially in the first 30 minutes, and our technical level were excellent.' Despite the impressive win, the former Liverpool and Celtic boss was cautious about title talk, focusing instead on building a team that starts fast and finishes strong.
