The Cubs took a 1-0 lead in the first and extended it to 3-0 before the Padres scored two runs in the fourth. Carson Kelly’s solo homer in the fifth gave the Cubs a 5-2 advantage, and they added another run in the eighth to seal a 6-5 victory.

Shōta Imanaga made his spring debut, allowing three hits and striking out one. The game was played on a warm February afternoon at Sloan Park, with the Cubs’ timely hitting and bullpen keeping the Padres at bay.
