Vikings Ring of Honor Star Joey Browner Dies at 65

Vikings Ring of Honor member Joey Browner, a 1983 first‑round pick and six‑time Pro Bowler, died at 65.

Browner spent nine seasons with the Vikings, earning three first‑team All‑Pro selections, a second‑team All‑Pro, and six Pro Bowls. He was named to the NFL’s All‑Decade Team for the 1980s and helped lead Minnesota to the 1987 NFC Championship.

The Vikings announced his passing on Sunday. Former teammate Steve Jordan said, “We’ve lost a great friend and one of the best Vikings teammates.” Browner ranks third in team history for games played by a safety and was inducted into the Ring of Honor in 2013.
