NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announced a crackdown on tanking, and the league leaked three anti‑tanking concepts that have drawn criticism for their complexity and uncertainty.

Adam Silver, two months into his tenure, declared the NBA would "fix" tanking and even banned an owner for life. The league then released a memo outlining several anti‑tanking concepts that have sparked confusion and skepticism among teams and fans.

The proposals include flattening the 14‑team lottery odds to 8%, expanding the top picks to 6–18, enlarging the lottery pool to 18 or 22 teams, averaging records over two years like the WNBA, crediting a minimum win floor, a tiered 5‑by‑5 draw, and a pre‑lottery floor randomization.
