Byström steps down as Swedish cross-country coach

Anders Byström has resigned as head coach of the Swedish cross-country national team after six years in the position.

Anders Byström stepped down as head coach of the Swedish cross-country national team, citing difficulties being away from family as a primary reason. This decision comes after discontent following the Olympic Games where the men's team performed poorly, and on the women's side, only two Swedish athletes started the final 50km race including Linn Svahn who was sent home - a mistake Byström acknowledged.

Despite these issues, Byström led the team through significant progress during his tenure. 'I have decided it's best to step aside and let someone else build a team towards the 2030 Olympics,' he stated. Swedish Ski Federation's cross-country chief Lars Öberg acknowledged the team's progress under Byström's leadership and thanked him for his contributions.
