Bello's Debut Cut Short by Robbed Strikeout

Red Sox rookie Brayan Bello's season debut was cut short after a robbed strikeout and a walk forced him out of the game, leaving him with 4.2 innings, 8 hits and 6 runs.

Bello, who made his season debut in a 9-2 loss at Daikin Park, recorded three consecutive strikeouts on Astros outfielder Cam Smith before a defensive error and a walk forced him out of the game in the bottom of the fifth. He finished 4.2 innings, 8 hits, 6 runs, 5 ER, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts.

Bello said the odd sequence left him frustrated, noting he believed the first pitch was a strike and the second was swung at, but the play was not counted. The Red Sox could have avoided the loss if the inning had ended sooner.
