Brewers' Manager Pulls Tortoise After Pancake Ban

During a pre‑game Apple TV interview, Brewers manager Pat Murphy swapped a pocket pancake for a Sulcata tortoise after being told he could not serve the snack.

Earlier this season the Milwaukee Brewers' manager Pat Murphy stunned a national audience when he was caught taking a pocket pancake from his hoodie during an in‑game dugout interview against the Nationals. The viral clip prompted the club to launch “Murph’s Pocket Pancakes” as a special concession at American Family Field.

When the team was scheduled to play the Kansas City Royals on Apple TV, Murphy was told he could no longer serve pocket pancakes. In a playful response, he presented a Sulcata tortoise – dubbed “Bobby Jr.” – to Apple reporter Tricia Whitaker. The reptile was not allowed to travel on the team due to airline policies, so it was kept in the visiting clubhouse at Kauffman Stadium while the Brewers look for a permanent home.
