40,000 Runners Set to Hit Streets for Broad Street Run

The nation's largest 10-mile race, the 47th annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run, will take place on Sunday with 40,000 participants.

The 47th annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run will see 40,000 runners hit the streets of Philadelphia on Sunday at 7 a.m. The course stretches from Central High School Athletic Field in the Logan section to the Navy Yard. Road closures will begin at 2 a.m., with no permitted parking on Broad Street from Olney Avenue to the Navy Yard between 2 a.m. and noon.

Public transportation is recommended for attendees. Runners can ride for free on the B (Broad Street Line) with their race bib, boarding at any station and riding north to Olney Transportation Center. The course is expected to reopen by noon.
