Pirates Acquire Mets Relief Weaver

Luke Weaver has been traded from the Mets to the Pirates before the trade deadline, per MLB Network, as the 11-year veteran right-hander continues his career-best season.

The 32-year-old Weaver, who signed a two-year, $22 million deal with New York this past offseason, is having his best season with a 1.84 ERA through 44 innings. He was one of the few high-end relievers available on the trade market.

With a 4.34 ERA as a unit, the Pirates' bullpen will welcome the addition of Weaver, who is owed $12.5 million in 2027. The trade comes as Mets' other acquisitions this season, including Freddy Peralta, Bo Bichette, and Jorge Polanco, have struggled. sportbet.rodeo
