Vålerenga has secured the services of Swedish twin brothers Ponthus and Pathrik Westerholm (34) for the upcoming season. The experienced duo comes most recently from three seasons with Finnish club Lukko and together have played nearly 1000 games in the Swedish Hockey League and Finnish elite league.
Sports director Morten Ask emphasized that when players with such experience become available, Vålerenga must be proactive. The twins have together won SM-gold and Champions Hockey League, performing at the highest level in both Sweden and Finland for over a decade. According to Ponthus Westerholm, conversations with current VIF player Henrik Larsson influenced their decision to join Vålerenga. The brothers arrived in Oslo over the weekend and completed their first training with the team on Monday. wlop.pl
