In the men's race, Hoel and Borjesson broke away from the field in the final stages. Young Norwegian talent Leopold Strand, the double junior world champion, led solo for much of the race before being caught in the closing kilometers. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo finished 43rd, while Harald Østberg Amundsen was the top Norwegian in 7th place.
