It was not all that long ago that Ron Harper Jr. was unsure if he was going to stick in the NBA with injuries threatening to derail the start of his pro career. But the Rutgers alum has since found his sea legs with the Boston Celtics, even starting (his second of the season) for the storied franchise against the Phoenix Suns this past Tuesday (Feb. 24) night.
And it was not an empty start for Harper, who put up 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, a steal, and a block, the New Jersey native getting the attention of his teammates for the growth he is showing on the court. "It's been amazing," said Derrick White after the Celtics' 97-81 victory vs. the Suns. "I think he really came in this summer."
"And then, when I came back, I could really see how much his confidence grew and how comfortable he felt out there," he continued.
"He's always really known how to play the game," said White. "When he doesn't start and he gets those minutes, he's done a lot of good things for us."
"It's great to see ... and we're going to need him for the rest of the year for sure."
