NBC Sunday Night Football set to make major change for 2026 NFL season

The NBC pregame broadcast crew on Sunday Night Football could look drastically different for the 2026 NFL season after a new report dropped.

For many years, former NFL head coach Tony Dungy has been a huge part of the NBC crew leading up to Sunday Night Football. However, Dungy’s time with the network appears to be over entering the 2026 season.

The Athletic is reporting that Dungy is “likely out” as NBC aims to revitalize its Sunday Night Football commentary. Meanwhile, Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth will remain in the booth for game nights.

This decision by NBC comes on the heels of the network having the rights to the Super Bowl this past month as the Seattle Seahawks took down the New England Patriots.

Maria Taylor, Rodney Harrison and Jason Garrett have also been in the NBC studio alongside Dungy for the past few seasons. However, Dungy’s run at NBC appears to come to a close after a 17-year broadcasting tenure.

The former Indianapolis Colts head coach left the NBC as a coach in 2008 before moving into a sports media role.

At this point, it’s unclear if NBC will look to add another personality into its pregame mix on NFL Sundays. The network certainly doesn’t have a shortage of contributors, particularly Mike Florio and Chris Simms, who often appear on the productions.
