2026 NFL Combine: Giants held formal meeting with Clemson's Peter Woods

Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods made a notable impression at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, where he got acquainted with the New York Giants.

Woods is one of the most highly touted prospects in the 2026 NFL draft class. The 20-year-old ranks as the No. 3 defensive tackle on Mel Kiper Jr.'s positional big board. He earned second-team All-American honors in 2025, thanks in large part to his strong production: five sacks, 14.5 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.

With the No. 5 overall pick in the draft, the Giants are in position to select Woods if they choose to address their defensive line needs early.

Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com reports that the Giants held a formal meeting with Woods at the combine.

I'm told the Giants met with Texas linebacker Anthony Hill and Clemson defensive tackle Peter Woods. Sounds like Hill won over the room inside the Giants' suite at Lucas Oil Stadium, which is interesting to see Styles and Hill emerge as legit options for a defense seeking MIKE linebacker presence.

Shared a laugh with Woods, who trains with Giants All-Pro Dexter Lawrence, given their Clemson connection, when I asked for his thoughts of maybe getting the chance to play with Dex.

"They gotta come get me," Woods told me with a smile. He's likely a late first-round pick.

The Giants' defensive line is currently anchored by two-time second-team All-Pro Dexter Lawrence.

Woods is widely regarded as one of the most explosive players at his position, bringing disruptive athleticism and versatility to the interior. As an Alabama native with ties to Clemson (where he has trained alongside Lawrence), Woods presents an intriguing option for New York as they evaluate prospects ahead of the draft.
