Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards fined for throwing ball into stands

The NBA has handed down a punishment against Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Edwards wad fine $25,000 on Thursday for throwing the ball “with force” into the stands, per an announcement from NBA executive vice president James Jones.

The incident came at halftime of Minnesota’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Edwards caught the ball and threw it the length of the court after time expired in the second quarter, hitting a spectator next to the stanchion.

Edwards earned his fourth career all-star nod this season, and has averaged 29.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists on 49.3 per cent shooting from the field and 40.0 per cent from deep.
