Official decision taken ahead of West Ham clash
Liverpool sanction permanent exit for midfielder
Liverpool have officially confirmed the permanent departure of teenage midfielder in a deal announced on Saturday.
Liverpool announce transfer decision
Liverpool have issued official statement confirming that Trent Kone-Doherty has left the club on permanent transfer as announced on the club’s official website.
The decision comes as Liverpool prepare for their Premier League match against West Ham United on Saturday in matchday 28 of the season.
According to the statement, the move is subject to international clearance after which the transfer will be fully completed.
Return to Norway after academy spell
Kone-Doherty will now return to his boyhood club in Norway ending his time at Anfield after nearly three year in Liverpool’s academy system.
The 19 year-old joined Liverpool in summer 2022 and featured regularly for the U18, U19 and most recently the U21 sides.
His steady progress earned him opportunities at senior level under head coach Arne Slot.
First-Team appearances under Arne Slot
Kone-Doherty made two appearances for Liverpool’s first team. He came on as substitute against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup in February 2025 and later featured against Crystal Palace in October.
Despite limited minutes, the midfielder was viewed as disciplined and hard-working player within the squad.
Deal details and future clauses
Media reports suggest the transfer is worth around €750,000. The agreement also includes buy-back clause in Liverpool’s favor as well as sell-on percentage allowing the club to benefit from any future transfer.
