After his goal proved the match winner against Borussia Dortmund in Saturday evening’s Bundesliga “Top-Spiel”, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich quickly declared the 2025/26 Bundesliga title race over. The German national team captain wasn’t necessarily haughty about matters, but did glibly state the obvious when conducting his post match interview with Sky Germany.
Joshua Kimmich “congratulates” Bayern on 35th Bundesliga title
“[With an 11-point] lead over the ‘pursuers,’” Kimmich told Sky. “Congratulations to us. We won’t relinquish [our lead]. We won’t let it slip. It will remain that way. It was a tough game and we struggled for a time. At half time, we knew that it would be difficult for Dortmund to keep up the pace. They’ve had a tough last few weeks with lots of games.
“We had more rest,” Kimmich continued. “Accordingly, we were aware that the longer the game went on, the bigger our advantage would be. We worked that advantage until the very end. I don’t generally score that many goals, so I’m very happy to take every goal I get. And to score the 3:2 so late in Dortmund is something very special.“
