10 years ago this week, Steph Curry hit a game-winning three against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The shot was iconic in itself, but it was Mike Breen’s reaction that cemented it in NBA history:

“They do have a timeout, decide not to use it… Curry from way downtown… BANG! BANG!”

This was Mike Breen’s first ‘double bang.’ The phrase, which has been used by Breen only ten times in his announcing career, instantly became just as iconic as the shot that started it.

For the anniversary of the first double bang, the Warriors recreated the call from memory. I think Gui Santos’ impression is my favorite, especially because he was 13 years old with NBA dreams at the time of the shot, just like I was — except my NBA dreams never panned out, because I am 5’5” with two busted knees. This shot did impact me, though, and it was one of the moments I remember from watching basketball as a teenager.
