It’s the last week of Music City Miracles’ Tennessee Titans 2026 NFL Free Agency Primer. The negotiating window period begins on March 9th, but the Titans are able to re-sign their own free agents before then. General manager Mike Borgonzi is equipped with more than $100 million in cap space and will collaborate with new head coach Robert Saleh on their shared vision for the 2026 Titans.
The Titans are currently scheduled to possess 29 free agents (19 unrestricted), including several key starters and role players. We’re continuing to take an in-depth look at each free agent and provide arguments for why the Titans should, or shouldn’t re-sign that player. We’ll also offer our final verdict and a prediction to go along with our analysis.
Today, we’re analyzing defensive lineman Sebastian Joseph-Day.
Why the Titans should re-sign Joseph-Day
Joseph-Day has been a keynote member of the Titans’ defensive line next to Jeffery Simmons and T’Vondre Sweat over the past two seasons. He was first signed to a one-year contract by Ran Carthon, and then Mike Borgonzi inked him to another one-year deal last offseason. In 2025, Joseph-Day recorded 41 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble, and 19 pressures (Pro Football Focus).
Why the Titans should let Joseph-Day walk
The Titans may have alternative options in free agency. They’ve strongly been connected to John Franklin-Myers, who played for Robert Saleh and DL coach Aaron Whitecotton in New York. Franklin-Myers plays a similar role and position to Joseph-Day, so the Titans may not have enough room for both.
Projected Contract
Spotrac projects Joseph-Day to sign a one-year, $6.9 million contract in free agency this offseason. That’s fairly similar to the one-year, $6.5 million contract the Titans signed him to last offseason. Joseph-Day’s 2025 season should lead to a similar market for him.
Final verdict
The Titans should strongly consider re-signing Joseph-Day. He’s been a useful player while displaying chemistry with Simmons and Sweat. One of Joseph-Day or Franklin-Myers should play that role for Saleh’s defense in 2026.
Prediction
The Titans let Joseph-Day walk. We can’t shake the feeling that they’re going to pursue Franklin-Myers instead.
