US women's hockey star Hilary Knight engaged to speedskater Brittany Bowe

U.S. hockey star Hilary Knight got engaged to her girlfriend, American speedskater Brittany Bowe, and shared the news a day before the U.S. women’s hockey team is set to compete in the gold medal game.

Knight, 36, proposed to Bowe, 37, during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. She shared an Instagram video of herself dropping to one knee with a ring in her hand, then later picking up Bowe in celebration.

“Olympics brought us together. This one made us forever,” Knight captioned the post on Wednesday.

Knight and Bowe first met at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, where Knight won her first gold medal in a dramatic final game against Canada. Bowe also won a medal that year, a bronze in the team pursuit.

The couple began dating four years later at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing, which featured limited outside interaction due to COVID concerns. Knight won a silver medal, while Bowe earned another bronze.

“That’s the first time we really did have time to connect and get to know one another,” Bowe told People magazine last month. “Hilary would ask, like, ‘Oh, do you want to go for a walk after dinner?’ And that was our first date, going to walk around the Olympic Village masked because everyone was so fearful of getting COVID.”

Bowe has already completed her 2026 Olympics, which she has said will be her last. Knight and her U.S. teammates will face Canada in Thursday’s gold medal match, the latest chapter in a rivalry that has defined international women’s hockey for decades.

Tennessee pulls away from Oklahoma late 89-66

The Tennessee Volunteers defeated the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday night by the score of 89-66 at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center. But at times, it certainly didn’t feel like a blowout on the court.

Nate Ament led Tennessee with 29 points and six rebounds. Ja’Kobi Gillespie was a force on both ends of the floor. In addition to 16 points, he added eight assists and eight steals.

Tennessee didn’t have any problems on the offensive end, particularly in the first half. Three pointers by Ament and Gillespie pushed the Vols out to a double digit lead at 21-11, 26-14, and 31-19. But Oklahoma managed to keep the game relatively close with runs to keep the game just inside single digits going late into the first half. But as the final seconds ticked down, Bishop Biswell took in an offensive board and dished to Felix Okpara for a slam and an and one to make the score 45-36 at the half.

Ament and Gillespie helped take the game by the throat early in the second half. After Gillespie knocked down a long lead to give the Vols a 15-point lead, Ament put one up between the two n’s in Tennessee on the floor for a swish that gave the Vols a 56-38 lead and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

A 9-0 Oklahoma run brought the game back into shouting range for Oklahoma, and the game would go back and forth until Tennessee held a 68-62 lead with around six minutes left.

And that’s when Tennessee finished with an absolutely flurry. DeWayne Brown II hit a cutting Ament down the lane for a thunderous jam. The next time down, Ament found Okpara for a nifty hook shot. The next time down, Ament drive, pulled up inside the free throw line, was fouled, and got the shot to bounce around and in for an and one. He made the free throw, and suddenly, Tennessee was up 75-62 with under five minutes to go and in complete control. They’d finish the game on a 21-4 run to close it out.

Next up for Tennessee is Vanderbilt on Saturday in Nashville at 2:00 pm ET on ESPN.

Darius Acuff Jr. points today: Arkansas G has record game in loss to Alabama

Darius Acuff Jr. turned in one of the best performances of the 2025-26 college basketball season — and in Arkansas men's basketball history.

However, that was not enough for Razorbacks, who lost 117-115 to Alabama in double overtime at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

Acuff scored 49 points on 16-of-27 shooting from the field for the Razorbacks, marking the second-most points scored in a game this season. Only Radford's Dennis Parker Jr., who scored 53 points on a 19-of-24 shooting performance on Dec. 14, 2025, against Coppin State, has topped Acuff's single-game scoring output this season.

Acuff, who played all 50 minutes in the game, scored 22 points in the first half for Arkansas. He then followed it up with 19 points in the second half, including a 3-pointer that sent the game to overtime with 11 seconds left in regulation. He scored eight more points in the second overtime period, including three free throws to give the Razorbacks a 113-112 lead with 1:31 left in the game.

Here's a look at Acuff's full stats against Alabama on Wednesday:

According to Arkansas' record book, Acuff's 49-point outburst trails only Rotnei Clark's 51-point performance vs. Alcorn State on Nov. 13, 2009. His 49 points are also the most by an SEC player since Clark's 51-point game, according to the SEC basketball media guide.
