Zundell becomes 3rd WV runner to break four-minute mile — and more

Zundell becomes 3rd WV runner to break four-minute mile

The former University High School state champion recorded a time of 3:59.04 at a meet in Boston on February 16. Former Syracuse coach Chris Fox, who was one of the other two West Virginians to achieve this feat, was present to witness the historic moment, which Zundell described as a 'full-circle moment' for the program he built.

Zundell, who previously ran 4:03 at Cornell earlier this season, expressed pride in joining the exclusive list of sub-four minute milers from West Virginia. With more track seasons ahead at Syracuse, Zundell credits the university for teaching him how to be a professional athlete in all aspects of his life.
