ECB Faces Backlash Over Pakistani Players in The Hundred

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has denied that Pakistani players will be barred from The Hundred, after media reports claimed IPL‑linked franchises would ignore them.

Four of the eight Hundred teams are part‑owned by Indian Premier League franchises, and a BBC‑reported agent said those teams would not consider Pakistani players in the March auction. The claim, described as an “unwritten rule,” triggered criticism from players and fans.

In response, the ECB reaffirmed that selection will be based solely on performance and team needs, and that no player will be excluded on nationality grounds. Pakistani batter Sahibzada Farhan said he remains hopeful of being picked, stressing that selection is up to the franchises.
