Former University of Florida standout Cornelius Ingram has reversed course and will return as head football coach at Hawthorne High School for the 2026 season. Ingram had initially stepped away from the position in January but decided Hawthorne remained the best fit after considering other opportunities in the Gainesville region.
During his previous 11 seasons at the helm, Ingram led the Hornets to three state championships (2022-23, 2025) and compiled an impressive 104-22 record with no losing campaigns. The former All-SEC performer at Florida will now guide Hawthorne in the FHSAA's 1A classification this fall.
