Wolverhampton, who sit at the bottom of the English Premier League table, pulled off a major upset by defeating third-placed Aston Villa 2-0 on Friday night. João Gomes was the star of the match, scoring both goals.
The first goal came 15 minutes into the second half when Adam Armstrong provided a brilliant through pass to Gomes, who finished from 16 meters. Aston Villa nearly equalized late but were denied by a save on the line. Gomes sealed the victory with a counterattack goal, making the final score 2-0. Norwegian player David Møller Wolfe remained on the bench for the entire match.
