Matthew Brennan, 20, captured the Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne for Visma‑Lease‑a‑Bike in a sprint finish, becoming the first Briton to win the Flemish classic since Mark Cavendish in 2015. The Darlington native surged from an accelerating pack to outpace rivals in the final metres.
After the race, Brennan said he was focused on the race itself rather than comparisons to Cavendish, noting that the sprint was a natural fit for his strengths.
